Change in parameters used to calculate guaranteed payments as of 2018

As of 1 January 2018, stiftung ear is changing the relevant parameters used to calculate guaranteed payments. Existing guarantee periods will not be affected. The following parameters are being modified:

  • Expected rate of return as a percentage
  • Expected mean lifespan in months

This will have the following consequences for you:

The change in the parameters will alter the size of the payments that need to be guaranteed. In the case of ICT and consumer electronics equipment, the guaranteed payments will be reduced (by between 24 and 64 percent). The payment will increase especially for LEDs, toys and sports and leisure equipment, by over 60 percent as compared with previous years.

We will automatically issue your guarantee documentation in line with the new method of calculation. For those customers who have booked our weee full-service and our reporting service, we will deposit the guaranteed payment for you as usual.

An overview of the new parameters is available on the stiftung ear website. (cf. Rule 02-003)
