Amendments to the harmonized standards in support of the EMCD
On May 4, 2022, amendments to certain standards of the EMCD – electromagnetic compatibility of an electronic or electrotechnical product or device – will come into force.
The update of some standards is aimed at the requirements for the emitted interference of the equipment (emitted interference standard). Manufacturers are advised to update their declarations of conformity.
Which devices are affected by the changes?
The new standards cover multimedia devices and multimedia equipment as well as household appliances and power tools.
Which standards will change from 04.05.2022?
EN 55015:2013: Limits and methods of measurement of radio disturbance characteristics of electrical lighting and similar equipment (to be superseded by EN IEC 55015:2019 + A11:2020)
EN 55014-1:2006 + A1:2009 + A2:2011: Electromagnetic compatibility - Requirements for household appliances, electric tools and similar apparatus - Part 1: Emission (to be replaced by EN 55014-1:2017)
EN 55032:2012: Electromagnetic compatibility of multimedia equipment and devices - Emission requirements (to be replaced by EN 55032:2015)
What do I have to consider as a manufacturer?
Manufacturers who have previously declared conformity with the expiring standards are recommended to review and update the corresponding EU Declaration of Conformity and the Technical Documentation. If these documents are not adapted, the presumption of conformity will expire. Manufacturers should therefore inform themselves about the renewals and take the next steps.
